Nothing Knew

Nothing Knew

I’m on the inside track to nowhere

And the street signs got no names

It’s getting in my lungs

It fills the empty lots like summer rain

Coming up inside the rust belt bubble

Still around to watch it burst

The giant is coming down

We stand around to see who gets out first

We got a brand new situation

Riding rocks out to the sun

I got no master plan

Here comes the answer

Like a loaded gun

They hold you to your keep

They watch you while you sleep

It was 1987

I was climbing up a smokestack

You were there but not in person

I’m always right behind you

We were waking up at the lake edge

Figment of my imagination
